For our traditional Pork Pie we teamed up with the best in the game with the team at The Proper Pasty Company. Just to avoid confusion the traditional pork pie is a different product from an Australian meat pie, no gravy or puff pastry with these & they are traditionally eaten cold. The pastry is typically hard & crumbly with a well-seasoned filling & tasty jelly.
The recipe of the pork pie is simple and purely natural, and the Proper Pasty Co use the time-honoured methods and tools. Each pie is hand-raised with wooden dollies and use the traditional hot water crust pastry. The pork pies are filled with 100% natural pork and a blend of powdered spices. To seal in the succulent goodness, they are finished-off by filling the cavity (between the meat & the crust) with a succulent jelly. It’s a true classic that would proudly stand its ground in Melton Mowbray – just ask our customers.
