Frequently asked questions

How much does a NDIS meal cost?

All our meals can be claimed for NDIS rebates, to approved NDIS recipients.

In average a meal will cost you $4.5 after the cost of food preparation and delivery is taken out.

1 - If you are NDIS self managed, you will pay upfront for the full price shown on the website. Before you place your first order, you will need to fill the form above so your account is setup to receive split invoice.

Along with you order confirmation, you will receive a NDIS invoice to claim the preparation and delivery cost portion. This is usually 70% of the total cost of the order, meaning that after being reimbursed by your NDIS provider, you will have just paid 30% of the total fees.

2 - If you are NDIS Plan managed, you will need to fill the form above to sign an agreement and a quote. We will reach out to your plan manager to confirm all the details before you can start ordering and only paying the upfront co-payment of 30%.

3 - If you are NDIA managed, you will need to fill the specific form above to get started. We will then contact you for the next steps.

How do I know if I am eligible for ready meals on my NDIS plan?

To be eligible for home delivered meals through the NDIS, your plan will usually need to include funding for Daily Activities under Core Supports, or a specific support item for meal preparation and delivery, being 01_023_0120_1_1.

From 1 March 2022, the NDIA no longer requires a quote for this support item. This gives participants more flexibility to use their Core funding for prepared meal services, including as an alternative to having a support worker assist with shopping and meal preparation.

This item does not need to be a stated support and can be used where it has been considered a reasonable and necessary support within the participant’s plan and there is enough Core funding available.

The older item, 01_022_0120_1_1, may still apply in some cases where it is specifically included in the participant’s plan and remains subject to quote requirements.

If you are unsure, check with your plan manager or your NDIS support coordinator as we will need confirmation of your eligibility before we can onboard you.

Can I choose my own meals?

Yes. You can choose whatever prepared meals you feel like as all our meals can be claimed for the NDIS rebate as long as you are eligible for it.

In each order, you are able to order various type of meals (complete meals serve 1, main of serves 2, soups, desserts, breakfast and snack) and varied the composition and quantity between each order.

Is Delidoor a registered NDIS meal provider?

Yes. Délidoor is a registered NDIS provider. This lets us invoice plan managers or the NDIA directly for the preparation and delivery component of each order.

How does the 70 % / 30 % payment split work under the NDIS?
  • 70 % of the total cost (meal preparation + delivery) is claimable from your Core Supports budget.
  • 30 % covers raw ingredients and is paid by you at checkout. We charge only the ingredient portion to your card and invoice the rest to your plan manager or the NDIA.
Can self-managed participants order?

Absolutely. At checkout you’ll pay the full amount upfront, then use the Delidoor tax invoice to claim 70 % back. For your first order, you will need to contact us to request a split invoice. On the following orders, you will receive automatically a split invoice so you can claim the 70% portion from your plan manager.

I’m NDIS plan-managed—what information do you need?

When you register you’ll provide your details as well as your plan manager’s email, receive an agreement and a quote for you to sign.

We then send your plan manager the signed agreement for approval.

As soon as we receive a confirmation on their end, you will receive a welcome email and a phone call from us to welcome you.

This process may take some time based on how quickly we receive the confirmation from your plan manager.

What’s the minimum order or lock-in?

There is a minimum of $80 of total cost of food.

Order as few or as many meals as you like—weekly, fortnightly or just when you need it. As our artisan meals are snap-frozen, you can keep them in the freezer and can keep them as long as until you need (well, no more than 6 months). There are no contracts or subscriptions.

Can I choose any meals, or are there set packs?

You can build your own box from 190+ mains, soups, sides and desserts. Filter by protein type and allergens to suit your preferences and dietary goals.

We only offer à la carte ordering, meaning you order what you want, when you want. There is no lock-in contract or commitment.

How are the meals delivered and stored?

Meals arrive snap-frozen in an insulated wool-liner box that keeps them frozen for up a couple of hours. Store straight in your freezer. Single-serve artisan meals reheat in the microwave in under 10 minutes, while larger portions benefit from an oven or stovetop warm-through to deliver full, restaurant-quality flavour. Clear heating directions are printed on every pack.

Do you cater for texture-modified or special-diet needs?

No, at present we don’t supply full IDDSI texture-modified meals (pureed, minced & moist, etc.).

In regards to special diet, our menu has common option such as non added-gluten, dairy-free, nut-free, vegan and vegetarian. Every dish clearly lists allergens and nutrition, and our chefs continually add new options based on customer demand. If you are unsure, call us on 02 8552 2850 and we’ll confirm whether a current item is suitable or suggest alternatives.

What if my funding changes or runs out?

If your plan budget is exhausted or rolls over, you can: (a) pause orders, (b) pay the full amount yourself, or (c) switch to a new funding line once approved. Our support team will guide you through the best option.

Can my support worker place orders for me?

Yes as long as they can access your account. They can order online or by phone, and the co-payment split will apply automatically.

Is there a delivery fee?

Delivery is free on orders ≥ $150. Orders below that incur a $17 fee. The fee falls within the claimable 70 % portion, so you won’t pay extra beyond your 30 % co-payment.

How quickly can I start?

Plan-managed and agency-managed participants can usually place their first order within 24 hours of plan manager approval (NDIA approval); self-managed participants can order immediately.

Do I earn Dinner Points on my NDIS orders?

Yes, as long as you have activated your Délidoor account by logging in online.

You will earn Dinner Points on the total value of your order, including both your co-payment (30%) and the funded plan manager portion (70%), excluding delivery fees.

You will earn 5 Dinner Points for every $1 spent.
